Gabel's Review
We did cutting
during class (Saraland Alabama) with the Falcon and also the
Ni-Ring. Cutting were Sensei Terrell (Butch) Lambert, my sempai
Russ Geisenheimer and myself. We also cut bamboo in a bamboo grove
(Satsuma Alabama) with just the Falcon. Cutting were Sensei
Terrell (Butch) Lambert and myself.
The fittings were fine on both the blades at their price range.
The wrap on the Falcon stayed nice and tight during all cuttings
even with the humidity down here and in the bamboo grove. The
tsuba was loose on both blades when I received them. The tsuka on
the Ni-Ring was too long for all of us as our style is more
oriented to a shorter one. The Falcon was nice and quick and made
a fine cutter. We had no problems cutting even larger bamboo with
the Falcon. Both Sensei Lambert and I heartily recommend the
Hayabusa as a Shinken for cutting mats or up to medium sized
bamboo.

Lambert's Review
I really liked the
Hayabusa blade. Since I practice Iai Do, I prefer the short tsuka
or handle. I would recommend this blade to use for light cutting,
up to four mats. The two ring is a heavier blade that would
probably cut bamboo, if it didn't bend. It's heavy and would take
an experienced practitioner to cut with it. I don't like the
tsuka, but it could be cut down. Did I say I really liked the
Falcon? The Furuyama swords are great for the money. If you want
museum quality Katanas, and can afford the high prices, then I
wouldn't suggest using them for cutting.
